Wrinkle Reduction:

QWhat do we use?
AFor reducing wrinkles Botulinum Toxin (commonly known as Botox) is used. This is a purified protein formed by the Clostridium bacterium, and has been safely used for over 25 years. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the facial muscles and this in turn makes the muscles less active, thereby smoothing and softening persistent lines and wrinkles.
It is injected in tiny doses using a very fine needle. Most patients need only one treatment, and the results take about one to two weeks to fully develop.
The effect lasts for around four months after which you may request a top-up. If you stop treatment, persistent wrinkles and lines will gradually return.
Deeper lines and wrinkles are treated using a collagen based dermal filler (we use the Restylane range). This substance is based on hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally in the skin tissues .
The filler is injected using a very fine needle. The tissues may take a few days to settle following injection, and the effects will eventually wear off after about 12 months as the naturally occurring product is absorbed.
QIs treatment painful?
ABotox therapy is rarely painful as the needles are so fine and the dose injected so tiny. Topical anaesthetic is used for filler injections, and most people find this quite sufficient. If you are still uncomfortable then we can use a local anaesthetic.
QI don’t want a ‘trout pout’!
ADon’t worry! I don’t want you to have a ‘trout pout’ either! The aim is to sculpt your lips, and not over-contour them. Less is more as far as lips are concerned.
